The Gonstead Method
Gonstead represents the ultimate standard in "hands on" spinal adjusting and remains the leader in chiropractic techniques. Adhering to the definition of true chiropractic as defined by D. D. Palmer, the founder of Chiropractic in 1895, Dr. Gonstead found there was no substitute or better method for analyzing or correcting spinal misalignments than with a pair of skilled chiropractic hands. This remains true today.

Dr. Clarence S. Gonstead
Dr. Clarence S. Gonstead (1898-1978) began practicing chiropractic in 1923 in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, a small farming community of 1,200 residents in south central Wisconsin. Dr. Gonstead's reputation spread throughout the state, the country and ultimately around the world, as a multitude of patient's health problems were corrected remarkably fast by his brand of chiropractic treatment.

What separates Us from other chiropractic methods
Now, it is mostly the instrumentation, or Nervoscope as it is called, that
really sets us apart from the other techniques. This heat-sensitive instrument measures temperature differences between one side of the spine to the other
by .1 degree Celcius. What will happen is a vertebra will subluxate(or misalign) causing the disc to herniate and the joint to swell (just like the swelling that occurs from spraining an ankle). This bulging of the disc places pressure on the neighboring nerve which may elicit a plethura of symptoms (pain, numbness, tingling, ulcers, constipation, diarrhea, headaches. etc.). Where this swelling
occurs is where the increase in temperature will be emitted. The Nervoscope pinpoints these precise locations by taking the guess-work out of the equation.
If any of these temperature readings can be ascertained, we will know that your case is indeed in need of Chiropractic. Then, what would allow us to determine exactly how to correct your subluxation (misalignment) would be 2 full-spine x-rays in the standing position; one from the front and one from the side.

By now I hope you have realized how much more specific and scientific
the Gonstead system really is. As you can see, we are not “dart-throwing” Chiropractors. We do not manipulate or “crack” you top to bottom in hopes
of “hitting” the right spot. We only adjust those vertebrae which need to
be adjusted. As Dr. Gonstead himself once put it: “ Find it, fix it, and leave
it alone. ”
